Reading Sessions
ACFNE regularly sponsors Reading Sessions in which selected
composers' works are read through and professionally recorded by
quality ensembles such as the Huntington Brass Quintet and
New England Conservatory’s Wind Ensemble.
For the past four years, ACF New England and the NEC Wind Ensemble have
collaborated on these reading sessions of new works. Annually, the
program provides three to five composers with readings by the ensemble
under the baton of Director Charles Peltz, a recording of the session,
and mentoring sessions with a senior composer.
Four composers have been selected for the ACFNE's 2005 Reading Session with the NEC Wind Ensemble and Jordan Winds, William Drury, Director. On April 7, 2005, the Wind Ensemble will read and record Panic by David Macbride, La Fuite en Égypte by Karl Henning, and Double Concerto by David Sanford. Kenneth Amis' Quadruple Fugue will be read and recorded by Jordan Winds on a separate date to be determined.
